TSU and EISTI build up cooperation

The Russian University visits Cergy

EISTI hosted two professors from Tomsk State University (Russia), TSU, in the framework of Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility. During one week, Tatiana Kabanova and Zhanna Zenkova discovered EISTI programmes, visited our campus and met professors and research professors.

A university focused on international expansion

This visit organised by the International Office team follows several meetings from one side to the other over the past 2 years. It helps both institutions to get to know each other on an academic level and enables both representatives from TSU to discover different possibilities offered to their students regarding transports or accommodation facilities for example. « Our idea is to share experience, students’ mobilities but also teaching mobilities and study the opportunity of a double degree between our institutions,» explains in a perfect French Tatiana Kabanova, also in charge of international relations of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at TSU. On this basis, she indicates: « TSU emphasizes the international dimension and develops several partnerships with institutions all over the world. In this context, we offer summer school or internships as additional opportunities to welcome international students on our campus ».
TSU already counts agreements with French Institutions such as Ecole Polytechnique, Paris Tech or CNAM and EISTI has cooperation with other russian state universities. «It is indeed thanks to our colleagues from Novosibirsk, and especially Michèle DEBRENNE, that we discovered EISTI, says Tatiana Kabanova.
Both professors belongs to the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. There are many similarities in teaching areas such as mathematics and computer science between TSU and EISTI. « For instance Quantitative Finance » says Zhanna Zenkova or « Data Analyses and Data Science » adds Tatiana Kabanova.
Project-based education, real DNA of EISTI, also aroused interest and curiosity of both professors who really enjoyed « the approach of solving a problem in a practical way» according to Zhanna Zenkova.

A fruitful cooperation to come

Following this visit, opportunities for partnership seem very open with TSU. Russian students are already interested in studying at EISTI in the field of our international masters and could come from next semester.
Let’s remind that TSU is the oldest University in Siberia and the first created over Ural Mountains in 1878. TSU counts nearly 16000 students, strongly international oriented, it welcomes 2300 international students.
As a leading research university, it has 20 faculties and institutes.
